How to translate Custom Filters or contribute to existing the translation
We are using Transifex as the tool for the localization of our extensions.
Transifex offers an easy way to translate language files and also supports the creation of translation teams that keep the language files updated.
So if you decide to translate Custom Filters in your language, please consider doing that using our Transifex page, so that other users can contribute to the translation and take advantage of that.
The following article walks through:
How it works
Request a new Language or Join a Team
First of all you have to visit the Custom Filters page in transifex.
https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/customfilters/
Then after signing in you have to check if there is already a translation team for your language.
If a team exist and you want to contribute or you think that a translation is incomplete, click on the Language and then press the "Join Team" link.
If the requested language does not exist press the "Request Language" link at the top right corner and select the requested language.
Once you submit your request we have to approve it. Normally we will do that shortly after the request submission and you will receive a notification in your email and in the transifex's inbox.
Translating
Transifex facilitates a lot that process.
Select the language in which you would like to translate and then one of the existing files. In the popup that opens press the "Translate" button
and translate the strings displaying in the left side, writing the translation in the right side. Each row represents a transaltion string.
Download and Install a translation
In order to use a translation you have to download the appropriate files in your computer.
To do that click on the file you want to download and press the "download for use" in the popup window.
After you have downloaded a file you have to rename it to a name that can be used by joomla. The joomla's naming convention for the language files is the following: LANGUAGE PREFIX.EXTENSION NAME.ini.
So for the Greek language, the files should be renamed as below:
*Left column->the file name in transifex
*Middle column ->The file as it should be renamed in order to be used by joomla
*Right Column -> The folder where the file should be moved
*LANG PREFIX->the prefix of the language in which the file is translated. E.g. el-GR
